TYTAN scales AI-based defense systems with 30 million euros
Munich-based defense tech startup TYTAN Technologies has closed a Series A financing round of 30 million euros, bringing its total funding to 46 million euros. The round was co-led by Armira and the NATO Innovation Fund, with participation from existing investors such as Visionaries Club, OTB Ventures and Lakestar.
Responding to new threats
Modern conflicts, especially the mass deployment of low-cost drones, are showing the limits of traditional air defense systems. The company is developing AI-supported, scalable interception systems that are specially designed for autonomous, high-frequency threat scenarios.
The platform combines software, sensor technology and cost-effective hardware into an integrated approach for multi-layered air defense, from drone defense to integration into next-generation missile-based systems.
Expansion of production and integration in Europe
With the fresh capital, TYTAN:
- Expand production capacities in Germany and partner countries
- Scale supply chains with European industrial partners
- Further develop AI-based interceptor technologies
- Integrate systems into existing defense architectures
Industrial partners include Hensoldt and KNDS.
European sovereignty as a strategic goal
TYTAN has been operationally active in Ukraine since its foundation in 2023 and has several government contracts. In Germany, the company is working with the BAAINBw, among others, on AI-based command and control infrastructure to protect military sites.
The founders Balazs Nagy and Batuhan Yumurtaci see the financing as part of a structural change: Europe's defense capability is increasingly being supplemented by privately financed deep tech innovation.
