Bayern Kapital invests in digital education. By investing in ubiMaster, the Free State of Bavaria is promoting an innovative offer for flexible, extracurricular learning support.

Munich/Landshut, April 30, 2025 - The education startup ubiMaster has successfully closed a Series A financing round of 7 million euros. Investors include Owl Ventures (USA), Bayern Kapital, amberra, Auxxo and the European EdTech funds Zanichelli Ventures and mpa Learning Fund. The company plans to use the fresh capital to further develop its digital learning platform and enter new markets.

Digital tutoring for more educational equality

ubiMaster was founded in 2018 by Jana Krotsch and aims to offer pupils throughout the German-speaking world flexible access to qualified tutoring - regardless of location and social background. The platform provides individual support via chat or video call in all common school subjects from the fifth grade onwards. The service is available seven days a week and is designed to supplement the school day.

ubiMaster is far more than just a learning platform. It is a vision for modern, accessible education. The support of our investors gives us the opportunity to continue on this path

Broad support - also for companies

In addition to the direct offer for families, ubiMaster also works with companies, foundations and publishers. These can offer the learning program as an employee benefit or product add-on. Use is then free of charge for the families concerned. In this way, the model also contributes to more equal opportunities and social participation.

With ubiMaster, we are investing in a company that is rethinking education and has already shown that its model is viable and scalable. Its social relevance is an added bonus.

Monika Steger, Managing Director of Bayern Kapital

Bayern Kapital is investing in ubiMaster for the first time via the Bayern 2 growth fund. Bavaria's Minister of Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger also expressed his support: "Digital, flexible educational offers such as ubiMaster are crucial for securing skilled workers. Investing in education today lays the foundation for tomorrow."

Growth and awards

With over 500,000 students reached, ubiMaster is now one of the best-known digital education providers in Germany. The company has received several awards, including the Comenius EduMedia seal, and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

With the new funding, the Munich-based team aims to further expand its reach and develop additional educational offerings that can be flexibly integrated into everyday life.
