US group acquires Leipzig-based start-up Mementor

The start-up has developed an "app on prescription" for sleep disorders. Now Resmed is taking over the Saxon healthtech.
The US healthcare group Resmed is taking over the Leipzig-based start-up Mementor. Resmed is thus expanding its portfolio in the field of sleep medicine to include a digital therapy program for patients with sleep disorders. Mementor hopes the acquisition will increase awareness among experts and thus establish the therapy product.
Founded in 2014, startup Mementor has developed the permanently approved digital health app "Somio," which patients with sleep disorders can use. With the app, patients learn sleep techniques and strategies for relaxation. "The founders have identified the previously neglected and vast field of healthy sleep as an opportunity to help millions of people suffering from sleep disorders with an easy-to-use digital solution from home," said Katrin Pucknat, president at Resmed in Germany.
Mementor will be integrated as a separate business unit of Resmed in Germany and will serve as the basis for further developments in the field of digital health. Mementor founder Noah Lorenz is to lead the division as co-managing director. Resmed emphasizes its intention to maintain the agility and creativity of the start-up and to support the brand in its further growth.
