USound raises EUR 10 million

The growth investment is intended to launch the mass production of MEMS speakers. The round was led by eQventure.

Graz - USound, a developer and supplier of MEMS loudspeakers for wearable and medical devices, announced that it has received a growth investment of 10 million euros. This investment will support the mass production of MEMS speakers for various true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds and over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aid customers.

The investment round was led by eQventure, a leading venture capitalist in Austria. Also participating in the round were technology entrepreneur Andreas "Andy" Bechtolsheim and serial entrepreneur and venture capitalist Hermann Hauser. The USound management, consisting of Ferruccio Bottoni (CEO), Andrea Rusconi-Clerici (CTO) and Herbert Gartner (CFO), also participated in the investment round.

Products save space and energy

USound MEMS speakers are known for their 50% space savings, 80% reduction in energy consumption and extended frequency range compared to competing products. These speakers can be seamlessly integrated into Bluetooth earbuds, headphones, smartphones, VR/AR glasses, wearable devices and hearing aids.

USound's thin, light and complete MEMS speakers are popular with many customers due to their integration flexibility and the benefits of the USound amplifier. Their smaller size helps make future portable devices more compact and lightweight, improving consumer comfort and style. In addition, their SMT reflow capability enables a dramatic reduction in system costs as fully automated assembly of audio products results in the highest quality and performance. Compared to purely monolithic MEMS solutions, USound's MEMS speakers are smaller and offer higher sound pressure levels, better sound quality and lower manufacturing costs.

The successful investment round and the increasing demand for USound's innovative MEMS speakers demonstrate the company's potential in the wearable and medical device market. With the fresh funding, USound will expand its production capacity and further strengthen its position as a developer of MEMS speakers. The leadership board currently consists of Ferruccio Bottoni (CEO), Andrea Rusconi Clerici (CTO) and Herbert Gartner (CFO).
