The Hessian drone company Wingcopter has completed another financing round. In addition to the participation of the new investor Nordic Secondary Fund, existing investors and the European Investment Bank (EIB) have also committed themselves once again. The company did not disclose the exact amount of the financing.

We are excited to partner with Wingcopter as we share the team's vision of driving meaningful change.

Plans for international approvals and new business areas

According to Wingcopter, the progress of the type certification of the Wingcopter 198 in the USA, Brazil and Japan in particular has attracted the interest of investors. The company is also expanding its business segment. In addition to the use of drones for delivery logistics, Wingcopter also intends to offer services in the field of surveying critical infrastructure using LiDAR technology in the future.

New managers for scaling and finance

As part of its growth strategy, the company has also expanded its management team. Dr. Bernhard Klumpp, former manager at automotive supplier Continental, will become Co-CEO and Chief Product Officer. His main task will be to drive forward the industrial scaling of the main product, the Wingcopter 198.

Both Bernhard and Tobias have invaluable knowledge and experience in scaling companies - Bernhard in the industrial environment, Tobias in the financial sector.

In addition, Tobias Jordan, formerly with Credit Suisse and most recently CFO of the mobility start-up Dance, will take on the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He will be responsible for the financial structure and strategic development of the company.

Scalable drone technology from Europe

Wingcopter was founded in 2017 and develops all-electric unmanned aerial systems that are primarily used in logistics and surveying. According to the company, it employs around 150 people. The drones combine vertical take-off with long-range flight capability. This is made possible by a patented swivel rotor system. The company is thus targeting applications in regions that are difficult to access or structurally weak, for example in the medical sector or for inspecting infrastructure.
