IoT in pest control. Zepta replaces conventional methods with smart monitoring solutions and receives fresh capital to do so.

Dresden/Mühlhausen, 2 April 2025 - The startup Zepta, which specializes in digital pest control, has successfully completed its first round of financing. The company, which has branches in Dresden and Mühlhausen, secured a seven-figure sum. The investors include TGFS Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen, GIMIC Ventures, bm-t from Thuringia and Chemovator, BASF's incubator program. Zepta intends to use the new capital to grow, acquire new customers and establish itself as a leading provider of digital pest control.

Wait a minute - they do what exactly?

Rising temperatures due to climate change are leading to an increase in rats and other pests. These continue to threaten health, infrastructure and agriculture. At the same time, toxic baits are becoming more strictly regulated, so companies need environmentally friendly alternatives. According to forecasts, the global market for pest control will grow to 30 billion euros by 2028.

I grew up with pest control as my father worked in the industry. With Zepta, we focus on targeted control that only uses active ingredients when there is an infestation - that is efficient and sustainable.

Lukas Deuscher, co-founder and CSO of Zepta

Zepta offers a data-driven IoT solution that replaces conventional methods. Instead of manually checking baits, the system enables real-time monitoring around the clock. Active ingredients are only used when there is an actual infestation and existing traps can be retrofitted. This saves companies up to 90% on unnecessary operations, reduces costs and lowers their ecological footprint.

Zepta is revolutionizing the industry with IoT, data analytics and automation. We are convinced that they will change the market for good.

Tomas Burck, Managing Partner at GIMIC Ventures

Zepta develops innovative solutions for digital pest control and offers companies IoT-supported, environmentally friendly alternatives to conventional methods. Smart pest traps are built, so to speak, that digitally track infestations, significantly reducing the costs of manual control. For example, the rat trap reports to the digital interface and issues a corresponding report. This means that employees no longer have to walk through all the traps set up in the warehouse or factory, open them and check the bait, but only when necessary.

The company is based in Saxony and Thuringia and works with customers from various industries.
