Energy sector - Olmatic wins framework contract from Rheinmetall to implement intelligent energy management solutions

Düsseldorf, September 3, 2024 - Olmatic, a greentech startup from Germany, has received a major order from Rheinmetall. Düsseldorf-based Rheinmetall AG has awarded Olmatic a comprehensive framework contract for energy optimization at several German sites. The aim of this contract is to make Rheinmetall's sites more sustainable, secure and flexible through the use of generation systems, battery storage and intelligent energy management software.

Focus on sustainability and innovation

Rheinmetall, a company with a rich tradition and over 125 years of history, is committed to sustainable development and CO2 reduction. For Rheinmetall, this is not only a commitment to the environment, but also a key factor for long-term economic success. By integrating ecological and technological innovations into its corporate strategy, Rheinmetall is making an important contribution to the energy transition.

The partnership with Olmatic makes a valuable contribution to achieving our ambitious sustainability goals and enables us to make significant cost savings. Olmatic offers us the flexibility and efficiency we need to prepare for the future in this area.

Marcus Gerlach, CEO Central Division & Chief Purchasing Officer of Rheinmetall

Use of advanced technology

As part of the project, Olmatic will implement the AI-based software visions, which enables energy flows to be precisely analyzed and future consumption to be predicted. These predictions are essential in a volatile energy market in order to achieve significant cost savings and future-proof the energy infrastructure. The integration of photovoltaic systems and battery storage is also carried out by Olmatic at the relevant Rheinmetall sites.

Virtual power plant and cost savings

With our visions software, we will make a significant contribution to Rheinmetall's energy efficiency and sustainability.

Patrick Olma, CEO of Olmatic

Rheinmetall's various sites will be merged into a virtual power plant to enable cross-site electricity use and increase overall efficiency. This bundling of energy generation and storage capacities gives Rheinmetall unprecedented flexibility and a pioneering position in the industry. These measures not only ensure a significant reduction in energy costs, but also strengthen security of supply.
