ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) is the Megatrend of the 21th century. It affects each and every business regardless of its size, location or industry as its not a nice to have but rather a must to do thing. Every company has to implement the ESG criteria that is stipulated by the EU. Companies that fail to do so, will certainly run out of business in the mid to long-term. Now ESGendium helps companies to understand and implement those ESG criteria much cheaper, easier and faster than any other solution.

ESGendium is an easy to use SaaS platform that enables SMEs to understand and implement ESG in the easiest possible way. As opposed to other available solutions out there, ESGendium aims to provide SMEs a holistic view of the entire ESG spectrum as it not only consists of environmental topics such as carboon footprint (Co2) but also Social and Governance aspects.

It addresses particularly SMEs because unlike large corporations SMEs do not have the financial means to hire expensive ESG experts as they cost between 1.000 to 1.800 Euro a day. As SMEs are very cost sensitive, they depend on a solution that meets their specific pain points and doesnt costs a small fortune. Most of the solutions target either large corporations or companies of all sizes (one size-fits all). ESGendium on the other hand only addresses 2 type of SMEs:

1. SMEs that have no to little understanding of ESG. Those SMEs need guidance from the very scratch. They dont want to feel lost and get a better understanding of the big ESG picture.

2. SMEs that have already started with ESG and now need a software that helps them to collect and manage their ESG data in a well-arranged and easy to use way.

Once the SMEs have build their initial ESG setup with ESGendium, it enables them to implement national and international frameworks such as UN-SDG (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) or DNK (Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitskodex) which is highly relevant as the implementation of such frameworks is demanded by almost all stakeholders.

ESGendium basically helps SMEs to understand a very complicated topic and enables them to take ownership of such an important issue in their own hands. Just like the old saying goes: "Dont give a man a fish, teach him how to fish." Thats basically our version of the quote when it comes to ESG.

Michael Busse is Co-Founder of ESGendium and has many years of work experience in the financial and sustainability industry. In his previous roles as a financial analyst and ESG consultant he advised SMEs and large corporations on relevant financial factors as well as the implemention of a sustainability strategy and the creation of sustainability reportings.
