Will Streetscooter get a buyer after all?

Deutsche Post took over the start-up Streetscooter in 2014 - but apparently no longer sees any economic prospects for the company. Now there could be a buyer.
Four investors have surprisingly announced their interest in Streetscooter, reports the Manager Magazine. The start-up, which was taken over by Swiss Post in 2014, produces an e-van in small quantities, which Swiss Post also uses itself - but apparently made a loss of a good 70 million euros a year.
Swiss Post then announced a production stop at the end of 2020. The former state-owned company then wanted to convert the start-up into a pure operator of the existing fleet when it was unable to find a buyer. The prospective buyers now being discussed are Düsseldorf entrepreneur Nazif Destani, who already has a stake in Aachen-based e-car manufacturer e.GO Mobile via his Dutch investment company ND Group, an American investor group that has already been involved in other transactions in the e-mobility sector, as well as Chinese supplier Neapco and Chinese car manufacturer Chery.
It is still unclear what will happen if Streetscooter is purchased. The investors apparently have very different plans for the spin-off from RWTH Aachen University. According to Manager Magazin, the car manufacturer Chery wants to relocate production to China in order to reduce costs. Streetscooter previously built its models in Düren. According to Manager Magazin, the three other bidders are considering "further developments, but above all refinement on the capital market."
