The necessary documents are said to have already been submitted to the SEC.

According to a report by the Reuters news agency, the Munich-based developer of solar cars is planning an IPO in the USA. This is reported by the technology magazine T3N, among others. The agency cites people familiar with the plans. Both a classic IPO and a merger via a shell company (SPAC) are said to be on the table.

The Munich-based start-up could be valued at up to one billion US dollars in the event of an IPO. The start-up only raised 45 million euros in a financing round at the end of 2020. Both Sono Motors and the investment banks entrusted with the IPO, Citigroup and Berenberg, according to Reuters, initially responded to an inquiry from the Handelsblatt could not be reached.
