London, 31 October 2023 - HR technology company Spotted Zebra has raised £7.7 million in a Series A funding round led by pan-European venture capital firm Nauta Capital. This round was led by pan-European venture capital firm Nauta Capital and had participation from Act VC as well as existing investors Playfair Capital and Entrepreneur First.

Spotted Zebra provides a workforce management platform that enables large organizations to identify skills gaps in their workforce and address these gaps through hiring, succession planning or retraining existing employees.

The world of work is rapidly changing requirements

The skills crisis is an ongoing challenge, as highlighted by the World Economic Forum. Rapid changes in the world of work mean that many skills and occupations are becoming obsolete, while new, much-needed skills are emerging. This development is difficult to fill with workers. Globally, 77% of companies report skills gaps. The World Economic Forum estimates that failing to address these gaps could cost companies in the G20 countries USD 11.5 trillion in losses over the next ten years alone.

Our core belief is that employees are happier and more productive when their unique skills - their superpowers - are aligned with roles that use and develop these talents.

Ian Monk, CEO and Co-Founder Spotted Zebra

Spotted Zebra offers a solution to close skills gaps by focusing on the actual skills of employees. The platform uses a combination of artificial intelligence, assessment science and human expertise to help companies identify the required skills for specific roles and then find people with those skills. This expands the talent pool and improves employee performance compared to traditional recruitment methods.

Spotted Zebra also helps companies optimize their retraining programs by matching vacancies with employees whose jobs are being eliminated. This improves employee retention and reduces costs.

The funding will help Spotted Zebra expand its platform into different industries and markets, attract new talent and grow its product offering to reach its goal of matching 10 million people with opportunities at leading employers globally by 2030.

Founded in 2020, Spotted Zebra already counts several FTSE100 companies among its clients. The startup was awarded the Gold Award in the Candidate Assessment category at the 2022 In-House Recruitment Awards for its hiring solution in partnership with AWE.
