Discover how Mission Zero Technologies is tackling the challenges of climate change and driving sustainable solutions with its innovative technology and international customers

London, March 18, 2024 - Mission Zero Technologies, a climate tech startup based in London, has successfully raised £21.8 million in Series A funding. This investment, led by 2150, will help scale the company's direct air capture technology internationally. The aim is to reduce CO2 emissions worldwide.

We are delighted to welcome VCs and strategic investors who are among the world's leading sustainability investors

Dr. Nicholas Chadwick, CEO Mission Zero Technologies

The Series A funding comes following the commissioning of Mission Zero's first commercial facility in December 2023, known as the UK's first Direct Air Capture facility. New investors, including Deep Science Ventures, Anglo American, Stripe, Klarna, Deep Sky and the XPRIZE Foundation, join the existing consortium of climate pioneers.

Direct-Air-Capture

Mission Zero Technologies is working on a versatile and modular direct-air capture technology that aims to provide multi-megaton annual CO2 recovery capacity by the end of the decade. The company's technology aims to remove CO2 emissions from the atmosphere while drastically reducing new emissions in order to limit the global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius, as recommended in recent IPCC reports.

Mission Zero's novel technology enables cost-effective and energy-efficient deployment of DAC on a broad scale to enable effective carbon removal

Mission Zero's technology is energy efficient and uses electricity and a liquid solution to capture atmospheric CO2 in its organic form. This CO2 is then concentrated as a pure gas through an electrochemical process. The technology is designed for rapid scale-up and deployment and can be flexibly adapted to different sites and applications.

From pilot plant to commercial use

Mission Zero is one of the few start-ups that has moved from self-financed pilot plants to commercially financed plants with international customers. By the end of 2024, the company plans to have three more systems in operation for CO2 mineralization and the production of carbon-negative building materials and sustainable aviation fuel.

Dr. Nicholas Chadwick, CEO of Mission Zero Technologies, described the importance of the new investments and emphasized the role of investors in accelerating the scaling of DAC technology. Christian Jolck, Co-Founder and Partner at 2150, emphasized that the world urgently needs such solutions to achieve the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement.
