200 million euros for Volocopter

The Bruchsal-based start-up has been working on the use of electric air cabs for ten years and could receive approval in the next two years.
The Bruchsal-based start-up Volocopter has raised 200 million euros. The company's main aim is to accelerate the approval process for air cabs and the opening of the first routes in cities.
Existing investors include Daimler, Intel and DB Schenker. New investors include the investment company Blackrock, which is participating via funds, as well as Continental, Avala Capital, the company Atlantia, the investment fund Jericho Capital and others.
"Our VoloCity is the fifth generation of Volocopters and is well on the way to becoming the first approved electric air cab for cities. Thanks to our partnerships, we can draw on the necessary expertise to open the first routes in the next few years," says Volocopter CEO Florian Reuter. Approval is expected to be granted in the next two years.
The company was founded in 2011 and today has over 300 employees in Bruchsal near Karlsruhe, Munich and Singapore. Since its foundation, Volocopter has raised over 322 million euros. Test flights have been flown over Stuttgart and Helsinki in recent years, for example. Volocopter is also working on an electric aircraft that is already in the certification process for commercial use.
