abaut GmbH secures growth capital

Munich-based abaut GmbH, a technology company for the digitalization of the construction and raw materials industry, is receiving growth capital as part of a new financing round. In addition to Bayern Kapital, the venture capital company of the Free State of Bavaria, EquityPitcher Ventures (lead investor), EIT RawMaterials and the existing investor Bauer AG from Schrobenhausen are also participating.

abaut intends to use the fresh capital to expand its sales and marketing team and drive forward the further development of its own AI-based process optimization solutions.

Digitalization as a response to structural challenges

The construction and raw materials industry is facing key challenges: A shortage of skilled workers, volatile commodity prices, high operating costs and increasing regulatory requirements. Particularly in large infrastructure projects, such as highway construction, rail networks or route expansions, the efficiency of individual processes is crucial for overall costing and project success.

The scalable, AI-based solutions from abaut GmbH address a clear need in a rather conservative but rapidly growing industry. At the same time, the team impresses with its industry expertise and demonstrable growth.

According to the company, construction managers on large construction sites spend several hours a day evaluating manually recorded data. This is an effort that abaut wants to significantly reduce with automated and intelligent solutions. Anyone working in the construction industry knows the current bottleneck for site managers. Particularly in view of the fact that Germany now wants to invest significantly more in its infrastructure, construction projects can only succeed if the specialists' working time is used as efficiently as possible. Otherwise, there are simply not enough specialists in this area.

AI-supported analytics in real time

abaut develops modular hardware and software solutions that make it possible to digitalize, analyse and optimize production and logistics processes on construction sites. Data is collected via manufacturer-independent sensors, such as cameras, and evaluated in real time via an AI platform.

For example, project managers can see whether equipment is being optimally utilized, whether material flows are being efficiently controlled or how CO₂ emissions can be reduced. In the future, the solution will also provide automated recommendations for action, especially for site managers on site.

International use and growth potential

Founded in 2017, abaut GmbH's solutions are already being used in 18 countries around the world, particularly for large infrastructure projects in the transport and energy sectors. The customer base ranges from medium-sized companies to international corporations.

The fresh capital will be used to further scale the product and drive forward the international rollout. CEO and founder Sebastian Kaluza emphasizes that the company wants to further increase customer benefits through improved algorithms and intelligent evaluations.
