Allcup raises 450,000 euros in pre-seed round

With the capital from the financing round, Allcup wants to produce an edible coffee cup from a waffle and launch it on the market. Investors include experts from the food industry.

Allcup says it has raised 450,000 euros to further develop its plastic-free packaging solutions. JJB Vermögensverwaltung, a family office focused on strategic consulting, was among the investors in the pre-seed financing round. Also investing were Christoph Harff, professor of International and Behavioural Economics, Food-Angels-Germany co-founder Günther Rodemeyer, Rawbite CEO Matthias Harlfinger and True-Fruits founder Nicolas Lecloux.

Business psychologists Lara Wagemann and Sarah Theresa Schulte founded Allcup together with ecotrophologist Martin Nauen. The start-up has developed a coating that is supposed to be as heat- and water-resistant as plastic, but edible. According to the company, it is particularly suitable for disposable products with a usage time of up to 48 hours and rougher surfaces. "Like plastic, but awesome!" comments investor Nicolas Lecloux. "Allcup will blatantly disrupt the entire packaging industry."

With the help of the capital from the financing round, Allcup plans to manufacture and launch its first product, an edible coffee cup made from a wafer. The company says it has already found a partner for machine production. Later, other products such as salad bowls, straws, spoons and trays are to be added.
