ARX Robotics secures 31 million euros

ARX Robotics wants to strengthen European defense sovereignty with 31 million euros in fresh capital. The founders are focusing on autonomous ground vehicles and an AI-based operating system.
Munich, April 28, 2025 - The Munich-based robotics startup ARX Robotics has successfully closed a Series A financing round of 31 million euros. The round was led by HV Capital, with participation from Omnes Capital and existing investors NATO Innovation Fund and Project A. The company intends to use the new capital to significantly increase its production capacities, drive its international expansion and further develop its AI-based operating system Mithra OS.
Strengthening European defense sovereignty
ARX Robotics develops unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) of the Gereon RCS series as well as the AI-based operating system Mithra OS. The aim is to enable autonomous ground operations while ensuring a complete European supply chain. At a time when European states are increasingly investing in their defense capabilities, ARX Robotics is positioning itself as a key supplier of advanced autonomous technologies.
ARX shows that Europe can develop internationally competitive defense technology - modern, AI-based and sovereign.
Fabian Gruner, Partner at HV Capital
There is a great need for automation, particularly in the area of land operations, which account for 80% of all military activities. This is where ARX comes in: With modular robot technology and AI-based control systems, the company aims to make the armed forces more efficient and resilient.
Expansion of production capacities and expansion
With the new capital, ARX Robotics is planning to increase its production capacity fivefold in 2025 and is also expanding its presence in other European countries. The company recently announced its expansion into the UK - including a new production facility and a strategic partnership with Daimler Truck to develop new military vehicles.
The further development of Mithra OS, the AI operating system for the modernization of existing vehicle fleets, also remains a central focus. This will enable over 50,000 NATO vehicles to be brought up to date.
Successful positioning in the market
ARX Robotics was founded in 2022 by Marc Wietfeld (CEO), Maximilian Wied (CFO) and Stefan Roebel (COO), all former officers of the German Armed Forces. Today, the company counts armed forces in Germany, Ukraine and the United Kingdom among its customers. In Ukraine, ARX operates the largest western-developed UGV fleet.
ARX has the largest western UGV fleet in service in Ukraine. We look forward to continuing to support the company on its growth path within NATO.
Chris O'Connor from the NATO Innovation Fund
ARX was also recently selected by the European Defense Agency (EDA) for an EU-wide defense innovation project - a further step towards strengthening European defense sovereignty.
Outlook
With the conclusion of the Series A financing round, ARX Robotics is entering the next growth phase. In addition to expanding manufacturing capacity and entering new European markets, the company will continue to invest in leading European AI talent and establish Mithra OS as the backbone of autonomous defense solutions.
