Battery Ventures acquires and merges Vimcar and Avrios

The US investor is thus turning the two start-ups into what it claims is the fleet management market leader in German-speaking countries.

The US investor Battery Ventures is buying the two fleet management start-ups Vimcar from Berlin and Acrios from Zurich. According to the company, the purchase price totals 200 million. The German company accounts for about 135 million euros of that. The aim is to merge the two start-ups. The deal will then create the market leader in the German-speaking fleet management market, according to the company's own statements.

Further acquisitions are likely in the future. Vimcar co-founder Andreas Schneider, who remains in the company as a shareholder, speaks in the Handelsblatt of the emergence of a European market leader. Webfleet is currently the largest provider in Europe.

Vimcar was founded in 2013, Avrios two years later. Both digitize other companies' fleets by networking vehicles across manufacturers. However, the target groups and solutions differ. Vimcar offers, among other things, a digital driver's logbook and is aimed, for example, at tradesmen or care services. Avrios offers more in the area of cost management and administration. Together, the start-ups have more than 250 employees and manage over 25,000 vehicles. According to Vimcar founder Schneider, both companies are already operating profitably. For Battery Ventures, this was probably an important argument for the acquisition.
