Support network for Legaltechs in Bavaria launches

The Bavarian Ministry of Justice and UnternehmerTum open the Legal Tech Colab today.

The start-up cluster UnternehmerTum and the Bavarian Ministry of Justice want to specifically support start-ups that focus on legal tech. The Legal Tech Colab, which opened today for this purpose, is intended to support founders in developing prototypes, entering the market and scaling up. The Bavarian Ministry of Justice is funding the initiative with up to one million euros per year. The development of the Legal Tech Colab is also accompanied by the Tum Venture Labs, an initiative for marketable applications in cutting-edge research.

"We want to take advantage of the opportunities offered by digitization and become a leading legal tech hub," says Bavaria's Justice Minister Georg Eisenreich. "That's why I'm very pleased that together with UnternehmerTum we can give the starting signal for our Legal Tech Colab." For those who participate in the program, the organizers promise access to a legal tech computing platform, data storage, stipends of €1,000 per month, jobs at the Munich Urban Colab startup center, and access to global networks of companies and capital providers.

"Legal tech has been a difficult terrain for founders," says Philipp Gerbert, Managing Director of Tum Venture Labs. "We want to invite law firms, corporate and government legal departments, as well as startups and tech enthusiasts to join us and benefit from the exchange in the ecosystem."
