Berlin remains start-up capital

According to its own business development agency, the metropolis can hold its own against London or Amsterdam.
Berlin can still call itself the European capital of start-ups, at least according to the city's economic development agency. In its half-yearly report, it found that 3.25 billion euros in investments flowed into Berlin start-ups in the first six months of 2022 alone. This is a decline compared to the record year 2021, reports the Tagesspiegel .
Berlin Partner CEO Stefan Franzke has categorized the figure: "Berlin was able to defend its title as the start-up capital." According to him, the German capital is still in first place, ahead of cities such as London, Barcelona, Lisbon and Amsterdam.
Berlin's actual position in international rankings varies greatly depending on the survey. In June, another study came to the conclusion that Berlin was only in 16th place - behind Amsterdam, among others. At that time, Startup Genome evaluated not only investment capital, but also market reach, networking and the number of qualified workers in the cities.
