Bertelsmann Investments (BI) has announced its latest investment figures, revealing that it made 54 new investments and 31 follow-on investments in companies and funds last fiscal year. As Bertelsmann's global venture capital arm, BI is also responsible for Bertelsmann Next's growth initiatives. BI has increased its involvement in the Digital Health business area in particular.
The main focus in the expansion of our new growth areas is on Digital Health, where we see great potential, particularly in the U.S.
Carsten Coesfeld, CEO Bertelsmann Investments
BI invested through Bertelsmann Next in funds such as General Catalyst, YZR and Rock Health, as well as in companies such as Ada Health and SubjectWell. Additional investments were made in Paytient and Deepc earlier this year. Using its Boost strategy, Bertelsmann, the Group's parent company, will allocate a total investment of €5 billion to €7 billion through 2026 to expand existing businesses and build new businesses across the company.
BI expanded its investment activities beyond the three main funds BAI, BII and BDMI and expanded its presence in Southeast Asia. In doing so, the company made its first direct investments in healthcare companies Speedoc and Naluri. In addition, capital commitments were made to funds from Vertex Ventures and Openspace Ventures in the region.
As part of the Group's Boost and Next programs, significant investments will be made in the coming years to establish and expand growing companies worldwide.
