Application phase for the 5th Digital Health Award started

This year, the focus is on accessibility through digitalization. The special prize honors ideas that make everyday life easier for people with disabilities.

The Digital Health Award will be presented for the 5th time in 2022, and applications can be submitted until the end of November. In addition to the first three places, there will be a special prize, which the public will vote for on site in March 2022. It is dedicated to digital solutions for a self-determined life for people with disabilities. Start-ups that enable better participation and barrier-free everyday life could win 10,000 euros with the special prize. The first place winner will receive 25,000 euros, the runner-up 15,000 euros, and the third place winner also 10,000 euros.

The thematic focus this time is on Digital Care Applications (DiPA), which function similarly to Digital Health Applications (DiGA) and are dedicated to improving the lives of people in need of care. Other topics for the health award include digital medical technology and networking, which simplifies processes and is intended to make the supply chains in everyday hospital life more efficient.

The jury's assessment is based on the transferability of the business model to standard care, but also on sustainable aspects and the accessibility of the applications. The ten jury members evaluate the applications of the start-ups under the keywords attractiveness, scalability and profitability. They include experts such as Jana Wolf, professor at Aalen University with a focus on the healthcare industry, and Isabella Erb-Herrmann, who sits on the board of AOK. Also present are founders and start-up scene heads such as Benjamin Bauer, who is CEO of the Zollhof Tech Incubator.
