The start-up wants to start a "packaging revolution" in e-commerce. Now it has capital to do so.

The Hamburg-based start-up Boomerang has received six-figure funding, as the companyannounced on LinkedIn . The financing round is led by FIVE Investments GmbH, owned by logistics entrepreneurs Navid Thielemann and Christian Flick. Business angels Nikolaus Bayer, Mark Miller, Alf Arnold (Business Angels Club Berlin-Brandenburg), Beate Rosenthal (Business Angel Rhein Main) and Gregor Heinrich (Business Angels Club Berlin-Brandenburg) are also investing in the company.

Boomerang wants to make e-commerce more sustainable with reusable shipping bags and a deposit system. Marc Engelmann, Katharina Kreutzer and Christian Putz founded the start-up in 2022. The founders have developed reusable plastic bags that can be used up to 50 times. The aim is to reduce the packaging waste generated by online shopping. It is also intended to save costs. The customer pays a deposit of three euros for each shipping bag. After returning the bag to Boomerang free of charge, customers will receive their money back. The model will soon be tested in a pilot project.
