The start-up wants to launch a "packaging revolution" in e-commerce. It now has capital to do so.

Hamburg-based start-up Boomerang is receiving six-figure funding, the company announced on Linkedin . The financing round is led by FIVE Investments GmbH of logistics entrepreneurs Navid Thielemann and Christian Flick. In addition, business angels Nikolaus Bayer, Mark Miller, Alf Arnold (Business Angels Club Berlin-Brandenburg), Beate Rosenthal (Business Angel Rhein Main) and Gregor Heinrich (Business Angels Club Berlin-Brandenburg) are investing in the company.

Boomerang wants to make e-commerce more sustainable with reusable shipping bags and a deposit system. Marc Engelmann, Katharina Kreutzer and Christian Putz founded the start-up in 2022. The founders have developed reusable plastic bags that can be used up to 50 times. This is intended to reduce the packaging waste generated by online shopping. In addition, it is also intended to save costs. The customer pays a deposit of three euros for each shipping bag. After returning the bag to Boomerang free of charge, customers are to receive their money back. The model will soon be tested in a pilot project.
