HMNC aims to provide personalized treatment for people with depression. Now well-known investors are getting on board.

The company Holsboer Maschmeyer Neurochemie (HMNC) raised 14.3 million euros at in the first of two planned closings, according to start-up scene reports. Carsten Maschmeyer is the founder and shareholder of the company and is investing again in the current round. Soccer star Toni Kroos is also investing. Josef Ackermann, former CEO of Deutsche Bank, is also participating in the current round.

Kroos invested in the start-up because mental health is also an issue in competitive sport. "The topic of mental health is naturally also present there and is still sometimes underestimated, although the physical and mental pressure is enormous," Kroos is quoted as saying by Gründerszene.

HMNC intends to use the new capital to further develop its program for precision psychiatry. The application should make it possible to treat people with depression more individually. Founded in 2010, the company has received funding totaling 42.3 million since its launch.
