CO₂ as a KPI instead of just a balance sheet figure

The Berlin-based ClimateTech startup Climatiq has successfully closed a Series A financing round of 10 million euros. The round was led by Alstin Capital, with existing investors Singular and Cherry Ventures also participating.

Climatiq is developing a carbon intelligence infrastructure that enables CO₂ emissions to be integrated and analyzed directly in business processes. The aim is to establish CO₂ as a key performance indicator ("KPI") for companies, not only in the CO₂ balance sheet, but along the entire value chain.

API-based platform for direct integration

At the heart of the solution is an API-first platform that integrates emissions data directly into existing company software, such as ERP or supply chain systems. This allows companies to dispense with separate tools and underpin their operational decisions with climate-relevant data. Supported platforms include Celonis, IFS and Siemens.

CO₂ has long been a real cost factor for many companies - due to legal requirements, internal billing or capital market pressure.

In the last twelve months, over one billion issue calculations have been carried out via the platform. In addition, around 30,000 users worldwide, including scientists, NGOs and sustainability experts, access the free version.

Scope 3 emissions and AI-supported automation

Climatiq intends to use the new capital primarily to drive forward the expansion of its AI functions. The aim is the automated and context-dependent calculation of emissions. This also applies to Scope 3 areas that are difficult to capture, such as along the supply chain. According to the company, these make up an average of 90% of a company's carbon footprint, but are considered particularly complex to calculate.

In addition, the partner network is to be expanded and the database, which currently contains over 200,000 emission factors, is to be further developed.
