The IT service provider for public administration wants to in cooperation with the company Public the innovation potential of start-ups close to public administration.

It is the so-called Govtech start-ups, i.e. young companies that develop software for public authorities, with which Dataport would like to network better in the future. The IT service provider is already helping to digitize the public sector in Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg, Bremen and Saxony-Anhalt, and is also involved in tax administration in Lower Saxony and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The contract now signed between Dataport and Public is intended to help the IT service provider get in touch with relevant start-ups. In addition, Public will advise Dataport on the implementation of innovation projects with start-ups.

Public is a venture firm for administrative technology and aims to develop Germany and the EU into the leading govtech ecosystem worldwide. To this end, the company works with public IT service providers such as Dataport, as well as start-ups specializing in technologies for the administration, in the so-called "GovStart" program. GovStart is a growth and scaling program for start-ups in the public sector and is intended to support public IT service providers in using innovations from the industry for their own services.

Dataport is an institution under public law. The service provider provides the public sector with IT services such as the operation of infrastructures like data centers, networks and clients or the central procurement of information technology (IT). It also develops software.

"Start-ups stand for inventiveness and often also for user orientation. In order to be able to use this expertise in the change process towards a digital administration, we as a public IT service provider are approaching the industry in a targeted manner," says Dr. Johann Bizer, CEO of Dataport.
