Deepskill receives seven-figure funding

The start-up wants to use the money to further build its platform and expand its team. Thomas Leidinger, who used to work at Statista, will become head of technology.

Deepskill received a seven-figure sum in its pre-seed financing. High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) and Cologne-based management consultancy Kienbaum invested. Co-chair of the female investor network Encourageventures Ina Schlie and Tandemploy co-founder Anna Kaiser also participated.

Miriam Mertens and Peter Goeke founded Deepskill in 2020, a startup that has developed a digital platform for holistic HR development and emotional skills. There, employees can take part in individual and group coaching sessions and strengthen their so-called "deep skills," for example empathy and cooperation skills. The start-up's customers include Mazars, Ströer and Mediq Germany.

"We are delighted that HTGF, Kienbaum and our other Investor:ins believe in our mission to bring emotional skills to the broader workforce using smart technology," says Deepskill co-founder Miriam Mertens. "With the investment, we will continue to expand our platform and drive our growth." The company also plans to expand its technology, sales and content teams.

The funding round also sees Thomas Leidinger join Deepskill as chief technology officer. He previously helped build Statista. Now he is to further develop Deepskill's learning platform. "I am very optimistic that together we will be able to take the learning platform to a new level and bring emotional skills to even more customers and learners," says Thomas Leidinger.
