The Sion gets a driver assistance system from Continental

Sono Motors has already developed the electric motor for the Sion together with the company. Now they are expanding their partnership to include further hardware and software solutions.
The Munich-based start-up Sono Motors has expanded its collaboration with the technology company Continental. In future, Sono Motors wants to install Continental's Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) as standard in its Sion solar electric car. This should make the Sion safer and more comfortable and at the same time meet the road safety standards of the European Union.
The solar electric cars will also be equipped with a smart entry system that automatically opens the vehicle doors when authenticated drivers approach. Continental is also providing a start-stop button for the Sion. Sono Motors and Continental are currently testing the vehicles together.
The two companies have been cooperating since 2018 and have already worked together on the electric motor, the software for the vehicle control unit and the airbag control unit. "Expanding our cooperation to other areas such as ADAS and vehicle connectivity not only helps us to make rapid and decisive progress in development, but also gives us the certainty that we will deliver technology of proven quality to our customers," says Sono Motors co-founder and CEO Laurin Hahn. Sono Motors plans to start series production in the second half of 2023. According to the company, the Sion will cost around 25,000 euros net.
