DHDL deal falls through: Chaanz seeks crowd investors

A dating app where you first meet and then chat: That's the idea behind Chaanz. Now the start-up wants to finance it via crowdfunding.

Actually, Chaanz had already secured funding for its dating app: On the TV show "Die Höhle der Löwen," Marwin Grundel, Jakob Hubloher and Nino Reiter received an offer from Carsten Maschmeyer and Georg Kofler. They were to receive 200,000 euros for 49 percent of the shares in their start-up. According to information from Gründerszene, the deal has now fallen through.

During the review of legal conditions, financial planning and market opportunities after the broadcast, the cooperation failed. In addition, the start-up and the investors would have had different plans for the further strategy. "Our ideas and those of the investors diverged here and the deal unfortunately did not materialize," Chaanz CEO Marwin Grundel told Gründerszene. Now Chaanz wants to raise the 200,000 euros via crowdfunding. From 50 euros, interested parties can participate in the start-up via subordinated loans. On its website, Chaanz shows its plans in a roadmap: Beta testing of the app for Apple devices is to start in June, and the app is then to be launched on the market in August. After that, Chaanz wants to secure follow-on funding from a major investor.

The concept of Chaanz's dating app is different from Tinder or Bumble: users of the app meet before chatting with each other. Until the match, the profiles remain anonymous.
