The start-up offers a platform through which people can plan funerals and make provisions for their own burial. Now it has closed a seed funding round.

Emmora has received a seven-figure sum in a seed financing round. Among the investors are mainly family offices and business angels such as Mathias Krahl, Ewald Walgenbach, Marc Sasserath, Kerstin Schiefelbein and Thomas Dadashi. Additional funding came from existing investor APX and Hamburg-based IFB Innovationsstarter.

Emmora intends to use the capital to further expand its existing product and service portfolio and digitize the market for funerals, retirement planning and mourning. The start-up offers a platform where people can organize the funeral of relatives and plan their own funeral in advance. "Our vision with Emmora is to create a compassionate and reputable digital service offering that de-tabooizes death and understands it as part of life," says Emmora co-founder Evgeniya Polo.

Evgeniya Polo and Victoria Dietrich founded Emmora in Hamburg in 2019. According to information from Gründerszene the startup generated six-figure revenues last year. In addition to the platform, Emmora also operates an online store for funeral candles and cards.
