Facebook apparently buys Presize

The U.S. group is likely to acquire 100 percent of the shares in the digital sizing consultant for online stores.

Meta, Facebook's parent company, is acquiring Munich-based startup Presize, according to a Gründerszene reported with reference to an entry in the commercial register. According to the report, the U.S. company has acquired 100 percent of the digital sizing consultant. There are no details on the purchase price.

The start-up became known in 2020 through its appearance on Die Höhle der Löwen. At the time, Carsten Maschmeyer invested 650,000 euros in the company, securing 15 percent of the company's shares. Now the start-up is going entirely to Facebook parent company Meta. According to information from Gründerszene, the Presize brand will disappear and become part of the Meta Group. Of the 50 employees, mainly the developers are to be taken over.

Presize founders Awais Shafique, Leon Szeli and Tomislav Tomov developed an online tool in 2019 that specializes in calculating clothing sizes. Customers can determine their appropriate size with short videos of themselves and questions about their body shape. The tool can be integrated directly into online stores. According to Presize, the technology enables online stores to generate ten percent more net sales and reduce the number of returns.
