Femtech Dr. Vivien Karl receives money

The Berlin-based start-up has completed its pre-seed financing round and raised a six-figure sum. Better Ventures was one of the investors.

Berlin-based femtech Dr. Vivien Karl has raised a six-figure sum in its pre-seed financing round. The money comes from angel club Better Ventures and Ignore Gravity Ventures, the company behind the Grace Accelerator.

Dr. Vivien Karl was founded in 2021 by Vivien Karl and Julia Huhnholz. With their start-up, they are developing and marketing an intimate cream to help combat vaginal dryness. In collaboration with a gynecological practice, the cream is said to have been tested and approved. "We are aiming to develop Dr. Vivien Karl into the brand in the intimate care sector," says Huhnholz. Her goal is to take care of the health of women in midlife. "The market lacks high-quality products for a female population that is getting older and older," she says.

Anne and Stefan Lemcke (Ankerkraut), Pedro Gonçalves (Pergoncap) and Silvia Erika Sommer and Dörte Kaschdailis (smart impactxx) participated in the financing round via Better Ventures. Female health is a topic that is still neglected by too many investors, says Tina Dreimann, founder and Managing Director of Better Ventures. "The market for menopause, for example, is estimated at 600 billion US dollars, but only 5 percent of femtech start-ups focus on menopause."
