Flink buys French competitor Cajoo

The Berlin-based start-up thus becomes the market leader in France, according to a media report.
Grocery delivery service Flink is acquiring French competitor Cajoo, as the Handelsblatt reports. According to company circles, Cajoo is said to have gone to Flink for under 100 million euros as the medium reports. The exact purchase price is not known. At the same time as the takeover, French retailer Carrefour has also joined Flink and will become a trading partner.
Cajoo is said to have six million customers in Paris and the eight next largest cities in France. With the acquisition, Flink would not only gain these customers, but also new employees and warehouse space in the centers of major French cities.
Oliver Merkel, Julian Dames and Christoph Cordes founded Flink in 2020. The start-up offers 2,200 items in its online store that customers would normally buy in a supermarket. Users can order the items via an app and then receive the goods at their doorstep within minutes, according to the company. In the process, the delivery service is cooperating with the Rewe grocery store.
