Foodji receives up to 25 million euros for the expansion of intelligent food vending machines

Foodji is the first European company to gain access to new financing from P Capital Partners. The fresh capital will enable the food tech start-up to supply SMEs with flexible food vending machines

Munich, November 13, 2024 - Munich-based food tech scale-up Foodji has become the first European company to secure an innovative form of financing from P Capital Partners (PCP), gaining access to up to 25 million euros. This new type of "PCP Growth" financing offers founders access to debt capital without equity dilution and without restrictions on its use - and replaces a conventional equity round for Foodji. The aim is to use this capital to drive forward scaling and revolutionize employee catering in the SME sector.

New financing strategy focuses on promoting growth without diluting equity

With the PCP Growth initiative, PCP supports European scale-ups with tailored credit strategies that enable access to capital without the usual dilution of the founder's share. Our flexible financing gives founders the freedom to focus on growth without compromising on ownership."

The PCP financing will enable Foodji to significantly expand its market presence and aims to provide nationwide coverage in small and medium-sized companies that have not yet had their own canteen. "Thanks to this flexible financing, we can further consolidate our market leadership in ultra-fresh, autonomous employee catering," says Daniel von Canal, CEO and co-founder of Foodji.

Foodji: Flexible catering solutions for SMEs

Foodji was founded in 2016 and quickly developed into the market leader for smart food vending machines that offer healthy, fresh and affordable food around the clock. The company focuses primarily on SMEs: currently, around 90% of the more than 80,000 SMEs in Germany do not offer in-house catering. With its specially developed technology platform, Foodji makes it possible to optimally plan food requirements at each location and reduce unnecessary food waste.

The smart platform behind Foodji collects and analyzes user behavior and adapts the food offering accordingly. In this way, the company guarantees a resource-saving supply that also expands the range on offer in shift work and companies without a canteen. In 2023, the company raised 23 million US dollars in a Series A financing round and further expanded its market leadership.

Growth capital for the next expansion step

With the new financing, Foodji is pursuing a forward-looking growth strategy and plans to further increase its sales and presence in Germany and Europe. The partnership with PCP and access to up to 25 million euros marks a significant step for the company. The new funds will be invested in technology and the product portfolio and will enable the company to respond even more comprehensively to the rapidly growing demand for flexible catering solutions.
