Fosanis receives ten million euros in Series A financing round

Fosanis intends to use the capital from the financing round to launch its app for cancer patients "Mika" in other countries and conduct studies.
The Berlin-based start-up Fosanis has raised ten million euros for its support app for cancer patients, "Mika". The Swiss biotech company Debiopharm led the Series A financing round, with Ship2B Ventures and the venture capital company Equity Pitcher also joining in. The existing investor Ananda Impact Ventures has also invested again.
Fosanis is a medical device manufacturer founded in 2017 by Gandolf Finke and Jan Simon Raue and has developed its Mika app together with Berlin's Charité hospital and Leipzig University Hospital. The app provides cancer patients with knowledge and accompanies them during their therapy with personalized exercise training, nutritional recommendations and mindfulness exercises. Mika also makes it possible to keep a symptom diary. Statutory health insurance companies reimburse users for the costs of the app - however, the decision on eligibility for reimbursement is still provisional. Fosanis is currently aiming for permanent listing in the directory for digital health applications.
Fosanis would like to use the capital from the financing round to expand Mika into other countries. The company is planning a market launch in the UK this year. "Cancer knows no borders, which is why help and support for cancer patients should not stop at borders," explains Mika founder and Fosanis CEO Jan Simon Raue. The money will also be used to collaborate with international cancer research centers to conduct further studies.
