With the capital from the financing round, Fosanis wants to launch its app for cancer patients "Mika" in additional countries and conduct studies.

Berlin-based start-up Fosanis has raised ten million euros for its companion app for cancer patients "Mika". Swiss biotech company Debiopharm led the Series A funding round, while Ship2B Ventures and venture capital firm Equity Pitcher also made new entries. Existing investor Ananda Impact Ventures also participated again.

Fosanis is a medical device company founded in 2017 by Gandolf Finke and Jan Simon Raue and developed its app Mika together with Berlin's Charité and Leipzig University Hospital. The app provides cancer patients with knowledge and accompanies them during their therapy with personalized exercise training, nutritional recommendations and mindfulness exercises. In addition, Mika makes it possible to keep a symptom diary. Statutory health insurers reimburse users for the app - but the decision on reimbursability is still provisional. Fosanis is currently seeking permanent listing in the Directory of Digital Health Applications.

With the capital from the funding round, Fosanis hopes to expand Mika into additional countries. Later this year, the company plans to launch in the United Kingdom. "Cancer knows no borders, which is why help and support for cancer patients should not stop at borders," explains Mika founder and Fosanis CEO Jan Simon Raue. In addition, the money will be used for collaborations with international cancer research centers to conduct further studies.
