Change of leadership at Lilium

From August, Airbus manager Klaus Roewe will be the new boss of the air cab start-up.
At Lilium, the Bavarian flight cab start-up, former Airbus manager Klaus Roewe will become the new boss from August. Current company CEO Daniel Wiegand will remain with the company as chief engineer and member of the board of directors. Roewe will be responsible for certification and entry into series production. He was previously head of customer service at Airbus.
"I am absolutely thrilled to have Klaus Roewe as our next CEO - I strongly believe he is the right person to lead us through this next phase; and with him, Lilium gets the ideal mix of Silicon Valley innovation and deep aerospace expertise," said Daniel Wiegand.
Lilium recently had to postpone its planned market launch by a year to 2025 - just six months after the company went public on the U.S. stock exchange. There had been delays in the design of the model, explained Daniel Wiegand to the WorldHe also said that the Corona pandemic and detailed discussions with regulatory authorities had delayed the process.
The startup was founded in 2015 and now has more than 750 employees working on the development of an all-electric, vertical takeoff and landing jet. The aircraft is to have seven seats later. The range should be more than 250 kilometers. Such means of transport have not yet been approved; in addition to Lilium, Volocopter, Joby Aviation and Airbus are also working on a flying cab.
