Gilion plans global expansion under new management and rebranding

Gilion implements an AI-based approach to growth financing for the first time. The platform uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to provide tech companies with detailed insights into their performance data.

The European growth financing platform Gilion, formerly Ark Kapital, is announcing a reorientation under the leadership of tech manager Oscar Werner. Co-founder Oliver Hildebrandt joins the Advisory Board. Gilion, active in Germany since March 2023, offers technology companies loans of up to €10 million as an alternative to traditional venture capital financing.

Germany is Gilion's main market, with over €700m raised from the German ecosystem in 2023. The company plans to expand globally and is rebranding from Ark Kapital to Gilion. The new name is made up of the words "giga" and "million" and refers to the British word for billion.

Doubling of the personal loan market by 2029

The personal loan market is expected to double to 3.5 trillion US dollars by the end of 2028. Gilion is positioning itself as a response to the challenges tech companies face when traditional banks assess the risk of unprofitable companies.

Frank Strauß, investor and advisor to Gilion, emphasizes the importance of alternative financing models.
