HCP Sense closes seven-figure seed financing round

BMH invests in Darmstadt-based startup: HCP Sense aims to use the seed round to bring its sensor solution for industrial applications to series maturity

Wiesbaden, April 7, 2025 - Darmstadt-based deep-tech startup HCP Sense has closed a seven-figure seed financing round. The lead investor is BMH Beteiligungs-Managementgesellschaft Hessen mbH via its Hessen Kapital I fund. Several business angels also participated in the round.

Sensor solution for rolling bearings

HCP Sense develops sensor technology for monitoring the lubrication of rolling bearings, a key area of industrial plant engineering that has been difficult to monitor to date. The basis is a multi-patented technology that enables precise and continuous analysis of the lubrication condition.

This funding gives us the decisive impetus to make our sensor technology ready for series production and revolutionize predictive maintenance in the rolling bearing market.

The sensor is integrated directly into machines and works independently of design, lubricant or bearing size. Edge computing and AI-supported cloud evaluation provide companies with precise information about the lubrication of their bearings.

Paradigm shift in bearing monitoring

The aim of HCP Sense is to replace traditional methods such as vibration analysis. Instead of only detecting damage once it has occurred, the aim is to monitor the condition of the lubrication at an early stage. This can prevent failures and enable predictive maintenance.

The significance of this is huge: around 80 percent of all premature bearing failures are due to poor lubrication.

Aiming for series production and scaling

With the new capital, HCP Sense plans to further develop its existing customer-specific solutions into an industrially scalable series product. The customer base has grown steadily over the past few years and now includes DAX-listed corporations as well as medium-sized companies.
