Helsing receives 600 million euros to strengthen European defense technologies

The European defense tech start-up Helsing has raised 600 million euros in its Series D financing round. The round was led by Prima Materia, the investment vehicle of Spotify founder Daniel Ek. Further participation came from existing investors such as Lightspeed Ventures, Accel, Plural, General Catalyst and SAAB, as well as new backers BDT and MSD Partners.
Focus on European sovereignty and technological leadership
The investment is intended to help strengthen Europe's defense capabilities technologically and accelerate innovation across all military domains. Helsing develops AI-based software solutions for real-time data processing and operational decisions, especially in the context of modern defense systems.
Helsing is uniquely positioned to provide critical capabilities in all areas of defense. This investment underlines our long-term commitment to technological sovereignty in Europe.

Continuation of massive growth
The current financing round follows a Series C investment of 450 million euros in July 2024, in which General Catalyst, Accel, Elad Gil, Saab and Greenoaks, among others, participated. This brings the total capital raised within twelve months to over 1 billion euros. A very remarkable figure for a European defense start-up.
Approvals still pending
The financing is subject to regulatory approvals. No further details on the use of the funds have been disclosed. What is clear, however, is that Helsing is finally positioning itself as a central technological pillar for Europe's defense ambitions.
