HYTING secures seed financing

The technology start-up HYTING receives new funding for the further development of its innovative heating systems. The hydrogen-based solution relies on catalytic oxidation instead of combustion.

Wiesbaden, 17 February 2025 - HYTING GmbH, a start-up specializing in hydrogen-powered heating solutions, has successfully completed a seed financing round. BMH participates as a new investor and thus becomes co-owner of the company. Existing investors and the founding team also participated in the financing round. HYTING plans to use the fresh capital to develop further heating systems with higher output and to expand its customer base.

Heating technology without combustion

The building sector is one of the biggest producers of CO₂ emissions. Conventional heating systems based on fossil fuels such as gas, oil or coal contribute significantly to climate change. Hydrogen is considered a promising alternative, but HYTING is taking a special approach: instead of burning hydrogen, the company uses a catalytic oxidation process. In this process, a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen is converted into heat - the only by-product is water.

Hydrogen is one of the key energy sources of the future. Technical developments that enable its utilization are among the key technologies in the fight against climate change. The process developed by HYTING enables safe, efficient and clean air heating

This technology offers numerous advantages: The hydrogen pressure and purity requirements are low, which allows it to be used in a wide variety of areas. In addition to buildings and industrial plants, applications in vehicles or household appliances are also conceivable.

First market successes and strategic partnerships

HYTING was founded in Wiesbaden in 2021 and has already developed its first market-ready product with a heating capacity of 10 kW. In September 2024, the company acquired its first customer, Flusys GmbH. A hydrogen-powered heating system will be installed in Flusys' newly built production facility in the first quarter of 2025.

We are convinced that together we will succeed in moving very quickly from the development of a prototype to series production, especially with the upcoming first customer projects.

Tim Hannig, founder and managing director of HYTING

HYTING has also signed a development and cooperation agreement with the ebm-papst Group, a manufacturer of fans and heating technology systems. The aim is to jointly develop a heat generator for heating and air heating systems in various output classes from 10 kW to 300 kW. As part of the current financing round, ebm-papst has also joined HYTING as a shareholder.

Future plans and market development

HYTING plans to use the new funding to develop further product variants that can also heat larger buildings emission-free. In the first phase, the company is focusing on commercial customers who have their own hydrogen sources or a reliable source of supply. With the expansion of the hydrogen infrastructure in Europe, the offer is to be extended to other customer groups in the long term.
