Johannes B. Kerner is new investor in Cloudeatery

Cloudeatery provides the software and brands, while local partners take care of preparing the food: With its franchise-like concept, the start-up was able to win over the prominent TV presenter.

ZDF television presenter Johannes B. Kerner, known for his cooking show "Kerners Köche" among other things, has invested in Cloudeatery. At the same time, the Frankfurt-based start-up has opened another location in Berlin. In the "Cloudeatery Foodcourt", the company offers dishes from its seven brands.

Matthias Schneider and Remo Gianfrancesco want to digitize all processes in the kitchen with Cloud Kitchen. Users order via delivery services or the Cloudeatery app. The food should be prepared quickly and delivered by delivery service partners Lieferando, Uber Eats, Eatura and Wolt. Cloudeatery does not employ its own drivers. The selection includes vegan dishes from the in-house brands Vegan Pirates and Italian cuisine from the Nonna Filomena brand.

Cloudeatery enters into joint ventures to operate the kitchens on site. The start-up is responsible for the concept and digital processes, while the partners take over the local management. Despite the staff shortages caused by coronavirus, the business model has successfully established itself over the course of the year, says co-founder Schneider. "With the joint venture model, we are strategically optimizing the business model." Cloudeatery is currently focusing on further developing its software.
