Kaiko Systems raises two million euros

The start-up wants to digitize work on board ships. Among other things, it now wants to use the money to expand its team.

The Berlin-based software start-up Kaiko Systems has raised two million euros in a seed financing round. The young company plans to use the money to expand its team, further develop its software solution and expand into new regions.

Kaiko offers shipping companies a tool for data collection and data analysis for the manual technical operation of ships. From this, for example, the condition of the ships is to be read. With the help of a mobile app, the crew documents all relevant information about the ship and the machinery in the system. Kaiko's AI is supposed to derive potential risks from this and also point out possible efficiency gains. Up to now, according to the start-up, 90 percent of the time this has been done using Excel spreadsheets or even pen and paper.

Schoeller Holdings, Vineta Ventures, A Round Capital, Flagship Founders and industry experts such as Clasen Rickmers and Justus Kniffka, among others, participated in the financing round. "Maritime shipping is the backbone of global supply chains, but for various reasons it is still in the early stages with digitalization," says Fabian Fussek, co-founder and CEO of Kaiko. "So we have a unique opportunity here to play a major role in shaping the future of this industry."
