Hokify on course for success: after eight years of founding, the German and Austrian startup is acquired by karriere.at - for more than 40 million euros.

Vienna, January 17, 2024 - The job platform hokify records a remarkable success at the beginning of the year: The strategic investor karriere.at acquires the German and Austrian startup for over 40 million euros. The founders Daniel Laiminger, Simon Tretter and Karl Edlbauer have sold all shares to the investor for an enterprise value of 40 million euros. Despite this takeover, the profitable scaleup, which was founded in 2015, remains entrepreneurially independent.

We are very proud and grateful to have built a sustainably successful and profitable company from our idea with a motivated team over eight years.

Karl Edlbauer, Co-Founder hokify

Hokify is characterized by a unique and target group-relevant offer. Using the hokify profiles on their smartphones, job seekers can easily view more than 100,000 job offers without being redirected to external portals - a service that is unique in the German-speaking world. The scaleup is revolutionizing the recruiting market by getting to know users better with every registration and application and enabling companies to recruit suitable employees in a targeted manner.

Especially in the blue-collar sector and among young people, hokify has become the recruiting standard.

Georg Konjovic, CEO of karriere.at

The founders had already installed a management team before the exit, which will run hokify independently. Georg Konjovic, CEO of karriere.at, commented on the takeover: "The job market has changed - today the focus is on the employees. Daniel Laiminger, Simon Tretter and Karl Edlbauer recognized this change early on and created an innovative platform with hokify. Especially in the blue-collar sector and among young people, hokify has become the recruiting standard."

Hokify is planning further growth with the aim of becoming the largest career platform in the DACH region by 2030. The founding team will remain as strategic advisors after the exit and plans to take off again together. "There was no other reason for the sale of karriere.at than the desire to confidently hand over our 'baby' to a new owner, hand over full operational responsibility to our management and start something new together," says co-founder and CTO Simon Tretter, explaining the plans for the future.
