13 million euros for kiutra

kiutra, the leading provider of magnetic cooling for quantum technologies, has successfully closed a €13 million equity round. The fresh capital will be used to drive international expansion and provide helium-3-free cooling systems that strengthen the resilience of global quantum supply chains. The round was led by international investors NovaCapital and 55 North, with participation from High-Tech Gründerfonds and other existing investors. As a result, kiutra has raised a total of over 30 million euros in private and public funding to date. This is a clear signal of investor and institutional confidence in the mission to build a sustainable cryogenic infrastructure for quantum technologies.
This funding enables us to expand our global footprint and further develop our portfolio of scalable, easy-to-use cooling solutions - solutions that are essential for the rapidly growing quantum ecosystem.
Dr. Alexander Regnat, CEO & Co-Founder of kiutra
Helium-3 as a bottleneck factor in the quantum economy
Quantum technologies, from quantum computers to sensor technologies, are dependent on operation at extremely low temperatures. However, the helium-3 resources essential for this are scarce, expensive and geopolitically sensitive. International initiatives such as the NATO Transatlantic Quantum Community or Quantum Delta NL have therefore identified dependence on helium-3 as a critical risk for supply chains.
Magnetic cooling as an alternative
kiutra's proprietary technology offers a solution: ultra-low temperatures can be achieved by controlled magnetization and demagnetization of solid materials without the need for helium-3. The systems are already in use worldwide and support research institutions, quantum start-ups and industrial companies in the development and quality assurance of quantum hardware. According to the company, it currently offers the fastest cooling systems on the market and provides customers with decisive advantages in terms of speed and usability.
kiutra's scalable magnetic cooling technology is not only fundamental to quantum technologies, but also an example of the deep tech leadership that Europe needs.
Carlo Germano Ravina, Managing Director at NovaCapital
From research to global scale-up
kiutra had already received an EIC grant of €4 million in 2024 to further advance its technology development. With the new capital, the company is driving forward its transformation from a research-driven start-up to a global scale-up. The aim is to make cryogenic cooling simpler, safer and more scalable, thus democratizing access to ultracold technology for research and industry alike.
kiutra is perfectly positioned to solve one of the key bottlenecks in quantum computing: reliable, scalable and affordable access to cooling power.
Dr. Michael Jobst, Investor at 55 North
With its technological breakthrough, kiutra strengthens the resilience and sovereignty of European and international quantum supply chains. The company creates the basis for quantum technologies to be used without critical material dependencies.
