LEEF takes over Wisefood

Edible drinking straws, sustainable packaging and more: Wisefood becomes part of the LEEF Group. New sales channels and markets to be developed together.

Potsdam, December 17, 2024 - The palm leaf specialist LEEF from Berlin/Potsdam has acquired the startup Wisefood, which gained notoriety through its appearance on the TV show "Die Höhle der Löwen". Wisefood, founded in 2017 in Garching near Munich, is considered a pioneer for edible disposable products such as drinking straws, cups and stirrers, which are successfully sold to major customers such as ALDI, EDEKA and METRO.

The acquisition strengthens LEEF's position as a leading provider of sustainable packaging solutions and adds Wisefood's innovative product range to its portfolio. The focus is on accelerated expansion into the European market and stronger integration of e-commerce channels.

His colleague Jens Christoph also sees potential in the acquisition for joint product developments that protect the climate and the environment. The merger of the two companies is planned for 2025 in order to make optimum use of synergy effects. At the same time, LEEF Holding is planning a further financing round to secure its long-term growth.
