Deeptech aims to advance sustainable and efficient electric motors. Now it raises three million euros in its current financing round.

Munich-based deeptech Metismotion has raised three million euros in its third financing round. As in the previous financing round, Born2grow, High-Tech Gründerfonds and Siemens Technology Accelerator are investing. The start-up is a spin-off from the Siemens Group.

Since 2018, Metismotion has been developing bio-inspired actuator systems to electrify drive systems sustainably and efficiently. Patrick Fröse founded the company with former Siemens managers Wolfgang Zöls and Georg Bachmaier. According to the company, its actuators in many cases require only a quarter of the energy compared to pneumatic solutions. Demand is currently so high that pre-series and series production capacities are being tripled at the Munich site, it said.

"Metismotion products are already demonstrating in use by end customers, for example in the process industry, what will be possible in the future with intelligent electric actuator technology under the most demanding environmental conditions," said Rudolf Freytag, CEO of Siemens Technology Accelerator. The startup plans to use the newly acquired capital to drive the expansion of its software and IIOT (Industrial Internet of Things) development team. This should make it possible to present a second product series with expanded functionality as early as the middle of this year.
