Munevo expands into the USA

The start-up raises three million euros in a financing round with its smart wheelchair control system and plans to expand internationally.
Munich-based start-up Munevo has raised three million euros with its smart wheelchair control system for expansion into the USA and other international markets. Following seed financing last year, Bayern Kapital, BayBG, be10x Capital and Roca X, among others, participated in the financing round alongside existing investors.
Diseases such as paraplegia, multiple sclerosis or Parkinson's disease can severely limit freedom of movement and independence. With the help of Munevo's smartglass app, sufferers should be able to operate their electric wheelchair and other devices just by moving their head. The Munich-based start-up has been on the market for four years. It was originally founded by Claudiu Leverenz and Konstantin Madaus in Munich in 2018. The idea for Munevo came about during a university course at the Technical University of Munich.
"We are very proud that the new funding will allow Munevo to grow and help many people," says Claudiu Leverenz, CEO and co-founder of Munevo.
With the new round of funding, Munevo aims to meet the growing demand for its control, build its distribution network in the U.S. and expand its partnerships in Europe.
"Munevo's mission" to provide affected people with more freedom and independence is impressive, explains Monika Steger, managing director of Bayern Kapital. "We are convinced that the dedicated team will now increasingly achieve this in the rest of Europe and the U.S., and we are happy to assist with all our experience," Steger says.
