New management at Ottonova

The insurtech reorganizes itself and says goodbye to founder Roman Rittweger from the Executive Board. He is moving to the supervisory board.

The digital health insurer Ottonova is turning its management team upside down for once. The current CEO and founder Roman Rittweger will leave the management board and move to the supervisory board of Ottonova from 2023. The company has selected Bernhard Brühl, who is already responsible for the health insurer's operating business, as his successor. However, this is not the only change in the management team: Chief Technology Officer Peter Bauer is also leaving the company.

Founded in2015 by Roman Rittweger, Sebastian Scheerer and Frank Birzle,the insurtech offers private health insurance. With consultations via chats and other digital services, the start-up wants to digitize traditional health insurance. In addition to private comprehensive health insurance and supplementary health insurance, the start-up's portfolio also includes software solutions for the insurance industry. After a total of five years, founder Rittweger is now leaving.

Apparently, the board of directors will not be increased again, but the previous role distributions will be re-tailored, as stated in a company statement. Accordingly, the board will in future include Bernhard Brühl, Martin Betzwieser, Christopher Koker and Jesko David Kannenberg.

Rittweger justifies his departure by saying, "My goal was to shake up the private health insurance industry in the best sense and make healthcare more digital. We regularly achieve the best rankings in customer satisfaction and do so with a great team. I could hardly retire from operations at a better time."
