New management at Ottonova

The insurtech reorganizes itself and says goodbye to founder Roman Rittweger from the Management Board. He is moving to the Supervisory Board.

The digital health insurer Ottonova is turning its management board upside down. The previous CEO and founder Roman Rittweger will leave the management board and move to the Ottonova Supervisory Board from 2023. The company has chosen Bernhard Brühl, who is already responsible for the health insurer's operational business, as his successor. However, this is not the only change in the management team: Chief Technology Officer Peter Bauer is also leaving the company.

Foundedin 2015 by Roman Rittweger, Sebastian Scheerer and Frank Birzle, Insurtech offers private health insurance. The start-up aims to digitalize traditional health insurance with chat consultations and other digital services. In addition to private comprehensive health insurance and supplementary health insurance, the start-up's portfolio also includes software solutions for the insurance industry. After a total of five years, founder Rittweger is now leaving the company.

Apparently, the Management Board will not be expanded again, but the previous distribution of roles will be reorganized, as stated in a company press release. Accordingly, Bernhard Brühl, Martin Betzwieser, Christopher Koker and Jesko David Kannenberg will be members of the Management Board in future.

Rittweger explains his departure with the words: "My goal was to shake up the private health insurance industry in the best sense and make the healthcare sector more digital. We regularly achieve top rankings in customer satisfaction and do so with a great team. I could hardly retire from the operational business at a better time."
