Nürnberger Versicherung buys Getsurance

The start-up has thus been rescued from insolvency.
Nürnberger Versicherung becomes partner and lead investor of insurtech Getsurance. The Berlin-based start-up had to file for insolvency in October last year, and is now being given debt relief and new financing by the insurance company. Getsurance can continue to operate under its own name, will remain in Berlin and all employees will be taken over.
However, the two founders Viktor and Johannes Becher are no longer with the company. Gerlinde Wanke is to take over the management. She has so far headed the group tax department of Nürnberger and is responsible for the digitalization unit Nürnberger Evo-X. "The competent team, the innovative business model and the excellent market presence from the customer's point of view have convinced us," says Nürnberger Leben board member Harald Rosenberger: "Getsurance will expand the Nürnberger portfolio in a sustainable and meaningful way."
Getsurance is intended to strengthen the digital sales of Nürnberger Versicherung. The start-up has been offering occupational disability insurance in particular since 2016 and advertises paperless contracts.
