Nürnberger Versicherung buys Getsurance

The start-up has thus been rescued from insolvency.
Nürnberger Versicherung has become a partner and lead investor in the insurtech Getsurance. The start-up from Berlin had to file for insolvency in October last year, and is now being relieved of debt and refinanced by the insurance company. Getsurance can continue to operate under its own name, will remain in Berlin and all employees will be kept on.
However, the two founders Viktor and Johannes Becher are no longer involved. Gerlinde Wanke will take over the management of the company. She is currently head of Nürnberger's corporate tax department and is responsible for the digitalization unit Nürnberger Evo-X. "The competent team, the innovative business model and the excellent market presence from the customer's point of view convinced us," says Nürnberger Leben CEO Harald Rosenberger: "Getsurance will expand the Nürnberger portfolio in a sustainable and meaningful way."
Getsurance is intended to strengthen Nürnberger Versicherung's digital sales. The start-up has been offering occupational disability insurance in particular since 2016 and advertises with paperless contracts.
